چکیده

3) Heat stability of hemagglutinins is higher with Q virus than P virus. 4) Bovine red cell agglutinins are detectable only with Q virus but not with P virus. In this article, the fact that the activity of receptor destroying enzyme is higher with Q virus than when P virus was added as the fifth marker. In the second place, higher avidity of P virus than Q virus to immune sera was studied further in a critical manner. The result revealed the fact that in hemagglutination inhibition test with human convalescent sera, when human 0 red cells were used instead of chicken red cells, hemagglutinin inhibitory antibody was detectable even with Q virus as an antigen. Secondly, in the com plement fixation test with both viral antigens, there was no difference between P and Q in the avidity to fix the antibody contained in human convalescent sera. Thus the idea to assume P virus as the one in an indicator state of Q virus was proposed. In fact, KIO4 treatment of various Q viruses gave rise to the virus which was susceptible to human antibody and various inhibitors in hemagglutin ation inhibition test. Treatment of Q virus with formalin or urea did not change the characteristics of Q virus as KIO4 did. Trypsin treatment of both P and Q virus revealed the fact that they are both fairly resistant to this enzymatic action. Bovine red cell agglutinin found with Q virus was assumed to be the marker associated to the virus particle, as a whole. Because it was easily lost with ether treatment and was not detectable with the small hemagglutinins derived from Q virus.

Seasonal Outbreak of Influenza A virus Infection in Pediatric Age Groups During 2004-2005 in South of Iran

Background: The pandemic and regional influenza outbreaks resulting from antigenic variation of influenza viruses have been the subject of numerous studies which are crucial to the preparation of the vaccine. Frequent global winter outbreaks of influenza viruses require a constant surveillance of emerging influenza variants in order to develop efficient influenza vaccine. Methods: This study wa...

Pathogenicity and haemagglutinin gene sequence analysis of Iranian avian influenza H9N2 viruses isolated during (1998–2001)

Sixteen avian influenza (AI) H9N2 viruses were isolated from disease outbreaks in different parts of Iranduring (1998–2001). These AI isolates were used for pathogenicity, haemagglutinin (HA) gene variation andphylogenetic analysis. Results in both pathogenicity tests and HA gene cleavage site sequence detectionrepresented a non-highly pathogenic feature for all Iranian AI isolates studied. The...

Development and Evaluation of Real-Time RT-PCR Test for Quantitative and Qualitative Recognition of Current H9N2 Subtype Avian Influenza Viruses in Iran

Avian influenza H9N2 subtype viruses have had a great impact on Iranian industrial poultry production economy since introduction in the country. To approach Rapid and precise identification of this viruses as control measures in poultry industry, a real time probe base assay was developed to directly detect a specific influenza virus of H9N2 subtype -instead of general detection of Influenza A ...

Cloning, expression and purification of hemagglutinin conserved domain (HA2) of influenza A virus, to be used in broad-spectrum subunit vaccine cocktails

Introduction: Influenza virus has several conserved peptides which have the capacity to be used as suitable candidates for appropriate and stable vaccine production against different types of influenza viruses. One of these peptides is HA2, the hemagglutinin stalk domain which mediates the membrane fusion and is conserved amongst different sub-types of influenza virus. This peptide is a good ca...

Neuraminidase gene sequence analysis of avian influenza H9N2 viruses isolated from Iran

Influenza A viruses possesses two virion surface glycoproteins including haemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). The NA plays an important role in viral replication and promotes virus release from infected cells and facilitates virus spread throughout the body. To find out any genomic changes that might be occurred on NA gene of avian influenza circulating viruses, we have genetically analy...
